A beautiful day for the park

We went out to Midland this past weekend to visit Grandma and had a very nice time. Sunday was one of many beautiful weather days so we walked to the park by Mom's house. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.
Trent and Manning getting ready to go down the "big" slide (as Lance called it)

Bryce enjoying the tire swing...
Lance going down the big slide on his own!
Manning's turn to give it a go... luckily the slide was not a fast moving one... it was pretty high from the ground at the bottom of the slide. She enjoyed going by herself though... how brave!
She must get her bravery from her Daddy. :o)
Lance wanted this picture taken... not sure what the motivation behind it was. But it's very cute, to me, so it made the blog cut.
Manning making the trek up the very steep stairs to get to the slides. I believe she was telling me "NO" here... can you believe it?!?
Brother and sister slide time.
Bryce practicing his soccer "juggling"... he's getting pretty good at it...
Look at that form!

Has any one seen my sheep?

I've been doing cleaning out of clothes that Manning has out grown and she came across this hat that has been woefully forgotten in the sock drawer. We just don't have enough opportunities to wear bonnets these days.

She's mad at me here because I won't let her play with the camera.
Look at the pink bow on the side... so cute...

Manning's growing up

So, we had playgroup here yesterday and Manning decided she needed to sit at the island like a big girl and have her snack. She did really well... not much wiggling around or any other such actions that could make a Mom nervous.
I think part of the draw, too, was that her older friend, Julia, was having her snack at the island.
And, to top off the playgroup, she and her friend Griffin played a leisurely game on the playstation. (not really, but don't they look cute?) ;o)

Bryce's First Open House

Bryce was so excited about his first open house at school! They started working on things weeks in advance and he would tell me "We worked on things for Open House." Then on Monday he had soccer practice right before it was time to go and he was very concerned about being late. He kept telling me, "We have six things we have to do, we can't be late, we won't have time to do them all." Much to his shagrin we headed out about 6:15 (it started at 6:00) and arrived to a very full classroom and a list of six things to do while we were there. First we had to find his book about Texas...
Then we had to find his book box and he read two books to us from the box.
Next on the list was to look at his journal that he writes in every day. He really is an excellent writer... he has a great imagination too!
Then we were to look at his Texas art... if you can't read the fine print it says "Wanted: Bryce a.k.a. Honey (because he thought we called him that but I don't know when we have... he must be thinking of his other parents) and then at the bottom he's wanted for : being a good writer. Very cute.
They have been learning about bugs and they wrote a little two line story about a bug and made bugs in class one day.
Fifth we had to find his Texas story. Bryce's was about a cowboy and a bad guy. It was very cute.
A close up of the cowboys fighting it out.
More Texas art... his cowboy boot.
The last one was to visit the library, but Bryce didn't want to draw attention to himself by taking a picture with Mrs. Pratt, so you'll just have to take my word for it that we did all six things on our "Open House Scavenger Hunt". It was a very cute way to get to see all the things that he does at school.
