Drug Free Week Monday

This week is Drug Free Week at school and today was "crazy tie" day. Trent doesn't have too many crazy ties, so I told Bryce to pick his favorite. This is definitely one of the more bold ties that Trent has. He was very proud to wear one of his Daddy's ties and he said he had fun. More to come for this week... they have a theme every day.

Bryce and Julia showing school pride

This was one of the first times Bryce and Julia got to wear there "school pride" tshirts. Patriot pride is every Friday... I guess that Lone Star (Texans??) does there's every Friday as well. Dominica and I thought they looked cute in their shirts so we had to get pics. Doesn't Bryce look like the "I'm cool" guy and Julia is very prim and proper. It's crazy to think they're that old already! Bryce is six soon. Julia is just 3 weeks behind him.

Cozumel Pictures

We arrived in Cozumel on Thursday afternoon and were very impressed with our room. The "resting area" was very comfy.
As was the bed.

The tub was AWESOME! It had jets... we both enjoyed bath time... and, as an extra bonus, you could see the TV through the blinds!

The swim up patio.

A place to rest after swimming up to your room. Didn't spend too much time out there though... the mosquitos were relentless!

Ahhh, a self portrait, what you don't see is that I took like 6 of these because I was expecting the flash to go off... when we're outside... in the middle of the day! She's a genius! Or maybe I had a drink or two in my system. This was our first afternoon on the island. Definitely in relax mode. :o)

2nd afternoon lunch. It had rained for a while that morning, thus the wet patio... Trent's enjoying watching the water.

Trent is the snorkeler out of the two of us... I enjoyed taking pictures of him snorkeling though. I sat on the beach and read Life of Pi and sipped on my beverage.

No comment needed... just a beautiful picture.

Who's that guy? (any one remember Grease 2) Where did he come from? Who's that guy? Where can I get one?

All dressed up to go out to dinner with our friends we met who are from Houston.

Except, oops, Trent lost his sandals! (the were retrieved the next morning) He kept commenting on how he would be ready to cut quickly (soccer reference). I think he was a little self conscious wearing his soccer shoes. He looked handsome none-the-less. :o)

Our mini fridge didn't get restocked the last day we were there, so we went to the roof where the gym was located and pilfered some water from up there! We're geniuses!! We could have just called room service, but felt this was the better option.

Last morning of our vacation... don't you wish you could eat breakfast in this setting every day?!?

Bye-bye Cozumel! Until we meet again!

Last full day.

So, we had a nice day today. We woke up to cloudy weather, which isn't unusual for this area. We thought, "It'll rain for a couple hours and then clear up and be sunny." To no avail! It was rainy and cloudy all day. It worked out okay this morning because I had a spa treatment, but we got drenched while trying to enjoy a lunch on the patio. And, I didn't get to work on my tan! All was not lost though. We had a few drinks at the pool bar and visited with some fellow Texans. Then we came back to the room for a nap. Went back out to try out the hot tub on the roof... that hot tub was not hot though. We went back to the grill and I had a snack. We heard some loud and raucous people at the hot tub here on the ground floor and thought that sounded like fun! We went and joined them and had a nice time visiting with a hot tub full of people. There were 2 New Yorkers, 2 Germans and the rest of us were from Texas (8 total). It was a fun time. We decided to join one of the couples for dinner this evening at the Asian restaurant on the adjoining property. It was a very nice dinner and I think we all had a good time. Trent has, unfortunately, temporarily (hopefully) misplaced his nice sandals. He went to put them on before dinner and they were no where to be found. :o( He's very sad and has gone out looking for them a couple different times with no positive results. Hopefully some one will turn them in to the front desk tomorrow. We've had a really nice time but I think we're both ready to get back to Bryce, Lance and Manning. It's been a great break! Thanks Grandma for taking the kiddos on for 4 days!

We're in Cozumel!

Hello all from Mexico! I tried to get on yesterday to blog but have such LIMITED knowledge of Spanish, I could not figure out how to sign in! Enough about that...

We arrived Thursday afternoon to partly cloudy but absolutely gorgeous weather. We got to our resort and were treated to champagne with a cherry and it was very tasty. The resort is very nice and I'll have pictures to post when we get back. We have a swim up suite which Trent tried out yesterday... you can swim over to the main pool and then swim back right up to your door. After we checked in to our room we went down to the beach where Trent went snorkeling and I read. Our afternoon was filled with sun and drinks so much so that at about 8pm when we were at dinner I hit the wall and it was time to come back and go to sleep. Trent and I both got close to 12 hours of sleep Thursday night! Yay, yay, ya-yay, yay. :o)

Friday we got up and went to breakfast... very tasty. They have the best coffee here and we both ordered omelets which were delicious! We've had the best food here at the resort. It's definitely a step up from the hot dogs they passed off as "sausages" at the resort we went to on our honeymoon. After breakfast we ventured over to the spa to sign me up for some spa treatments for today. Then we hit the beach! We read our books and had drinks. It started to rain on us so we went to the bar and had some guacamole and chips and drinks. We waited out the rain and then went to lunch. After we went back to the beach for more reading and drinks. We got in the pool for a little bit and then it was back to the room for a nap. That was NICE! We slept for a couple hours and got up, Trent went to the gym (he's so good remembering tennis shoes and work out stuff) and I got in the shower to get ready for dinner. We went to dinner and I had a delicious filet mignon while Trent branched out and had a seafood pasta. We also had drinks at dinner. :o) Then we went to a disco here on the resort grounds! It was so much fun and I was so impressed with Trent going and he even danced with me! It was pretty cool... they had a stripper pole in the middle of the room. I never tried it... even with Trent trying to persuade me. We had some drinks and listened to some good music and decided we should have a shot of Tequila since we are in Mexico. Well, we learned that you shouldn't order anything you don't want to have replenished as soon as you finish it. We took our shots and the bar tender immediately brought out a second. I declined the second and am glad that I did. Tequila and I are not friends... I knew I would have trouble if I took a second. Trent was nice and did his second and we left shortly after and came back to the room for bed.

We're now in day 3 of our vacation and I'm feeling rested and revitalized and I haven't even gone to the spa yet! I go in just a few minutes. I think Trent is going to stay here and sleep to recover from that 2nd shot. :o) It's a rainy morning much like yesterday... we're going to keep our fingers crossed for a nice sunny afternoon like we've had the past two days. We hope you all are doing well and we'll be back to the states tomorrow night.

Tired Girl

I don't know what we were doing this day, but I do remember commenting to some one that Manning needed to eat her lunch before she fell asleep... a little too late I guess!
I think that Rick, Jacinda and Clare were here too... Manning is wearing a ND shirt so it must have been a Saturday... I can not remember what we were doing, but she is tuckered out! Such a sweet girl. This is the ONLY time this has happened... we usually are very good at putting her in BED for nap time.

A day in the life

So, everyday is busy for us so yesterday I thought I would take pictures to give you an idea of what we do. Thursdays are the "laid back" days because I don't have to get Lance to school at 9:00. After we got Bryce off to school at 8:00 we had our friends Josie and Drew over from across the street. Manning has fun with her friends

After Josie and Drew left, I dropped Lance off with his friend Wilson for a playdate while Manning and I headed to the gym for a class. After the gym we walked up to the school and picked Bryce up at 11. Then it was time to come home for some light reading

And exercise...

Thankfully it was time for naps. After naps our friend Hannah was here and we all relaxed while watching Pinky Dinky Doo and Little Bear

Hannah had a lot of fun dressing Manning for her afternoon play time

And then Bryce proceeded to try on my Halloween gear

Then, at 5:30 we went to Bryce's soccer practice

Lance really enjoys playing with his friend Andrew at soccer practice, I, unfortunately, couldn't get a picture of them together.
Manning had fun at practice playing with the other sisters of the soccer players. Here, she is brushing up on her colonial era paper dolls.
After Bryce's soccer practice we went to Trent's game at 7:30. Trent scored the goal that gave them the lead and their eventual win of 5-3.

Then it was home and bed for all! What a day... I'm exhausted just BLOGGING about it! I love to stay busy though.

Family Zoo time

Bryce convinced Trent last week to take the afternoon off and go to the zoo with us. We had a nice time except for the fact that it was PACKED (on a random Thursday afternoon). Turns out the home schools in the area were there. So, we got to wait for 30 minutes to get our food... ALWAYS pack a lunch. We usually do pack a lunch but we decided to "treat" ourselves to eating pizza at the zoo and it was a mess! We got to ride the train...

The nice thing about going with just our family is we can see/do what ever we want and don't have to worry about pleasing a group. So, we do a very limited tour of the zoo... no "scary" animals allowed. We go see the kangaroos (Bryce's favorite) and the fish, the elephants (Mom's favorite) and the giraffes (Lance's favorite). A new favorite of the entire family is the penguins... there are some very personable little guys in that tank. Manning got a close up of a couple different penguins and she thought that was very fun!

We did have a great time and hopefully we didn't scare Trent off from going to the zoo with us again. I promise, the last time we went on Thursday afternoon it was so quiet and not crowded at all!

This is a hat right?!?

A fun picture of Manning from last week. She is such a ham... she likes to show off for the camera. I'm going to attempt to take more pictures the next few days and show them off. :o) Here's a pic of her saying "Cheese"... she actually says the word... it's too cute!

XTO Picnic

Trent's company, XTO, had it's annual picnic last night and we always get all sorts of goodies before hand. The kiddos got these cute cowboy hats this year and Manning is the only one that was interested in wearing hers.

Here, Manning is trying to work up the nerve to go out on the dance floor. She was too cute, she got out there and bee-bopped around with some bigger kiddos. Daddy was very nervous about her getting knocked over. She did amazingly well paying attention to who was jumpin' and jivin' around her and only had one little bump that knocked her down. She's got her Mommy's rhythm. :o)

Rocking soccer!

So, I don't have any cute picture to put up, but I wanted to share Trent and my experience with soccer this season. We are having lots of fun... our team is undefeated and hasn't been scored on yet! I'll try and get a picture of us playing (or at least in our uniforms) sometime to post. We do have a lot of fun playing. We've got great people on our team. Last night Trent scored two goals and I scored one! It's so exhilirating to score a soccer goal! This is why we play. :o) Go Clockwork Orange!

Bryce parading

My friend, Susan, got a picture of Bryce parading yesterday... doesn't he look way too cool to be a blind mouse?!? :o)

Nursery Rhyme Parade

Bryce's class (as well as the other kindergarten classes) had a nursery rhyme parade today. This is Bryce with his teacher Miss Rhodes after the parade. She was "Jack" from Jack and Jill. Bryce was a blind mouse.

Bryce's friend, Ford, was also a blind mouse... we didn't even plan it! Bryce was Mr. Cool Blind mouse most of the time... with his shades down on the tip of his nose and his arms crossed.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of him in the actual parade down the school halls because I took pictures of his friends and my silly camera took too long to get ready again... he was already past me! But, here is a picture of his class.

And with his friend Josie who came to school to watch the parade.

Clare's visit

Rick, Jacinda and Clare came to visit late Monday night and when she got up Tuesday morning, Manning decided to try out Clare's car seat. She was so funny rocking back and forth in it... of course, when she saw that I had the camera out, she had to pose for me and say "cheese". It was also very funny, Tuesday afternoon, after lunch Clare started crawling back and forth between our back door and the living room and screeching and having a great time. Manning decided that her cousin was having so much fun she needed to join in. They were so cute going back and forth and they would always go to the back door and look out. It's such fun to have Clare and Manning at ages so close together... it will be great fun when they're a little bit older and start playing. They did do some playing together this visit but Manning is still pretty territorial of her things and we had a lot of "discussions" about sharing with Clare, and letting Clare play with things. :o) We look forward to The California Boneaus becoming Texas Boneaus! We're slowing working every one in to our web... ha, ha, ha... it's all a part of the master plan. ;o)
